
Biography :
Prof. Dr. Aymon Baud is a distinguished Swiss geologist and Research Associate at the Earth Science Institute of the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He is internationally recognized for his contributions to stratigraphy, sedimentology, paleogeography, and the study of the Permian–Triassic boundary, one of the most significant intervals in Earth’s geological history. Throughout his career, he has conducted extensive field research across the Himalayas, Tibet, Oman, Iran, Turkey, and other regions, advancing the understanding of ancient marine environments and mass extinction events. Prof. Baud has authored and co-authored hundreds of scientific publications and has played a leading role in international stratigraphic initiatives, including studies that contributed to defining key Triassic stratigraphic stages and isotope stratigraphy frameworks. His research has significantly enhanced knowledge of tectonics, sedimentary basins, and paleoenvironmental evolution. In addition to his scientific achievements, he has served as a curator and former director of geological museum activities in Lausanne and has been actively involved in preserving and promoting the history of geological sciences in Switzerland. Through decades of research, teaching, and international collaboration, Prof. Baud has made lasting contributions to the global geoscience community.
