Biography :
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şükrü Güney is a Turkish civil engineer specializing in hydraulics, hydromechanics, and water resources engineering. He is currently a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at İzmir University of Economics. He completed his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at INSA Lyon, France, and earned his PhD from Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in 1977, focusing on fluid mechanics and hydraulic systems. He began his academic career at Ege University and later joined Dokuz Eylül University, where he served for many years as a faculty member and held academic leadership roles, including Head of Department. His research spans computational hydraulics, sediment transport, groundwater flow, dam-break modeling, and experimental fluid mechanics. He has contributed to numerous scientific publications and research projects in the field of hydraulic engineering. Since joining İzmir University of Economics, he has continued his work on numerical modeling and experimental studies in hydraulic and environmental engineering.
